Mario Rosanda Ros /painter/photographer/illustrator/cartoonist/designer/
The pictures that you see here small (30x30cm) and large (100x100cm) format were created using several common techniques: oil on canvas / hardboard, acrylic on canvas / hardboard, oil pastel on aquarelle paper, and lately digital collages combining digital photography and computer processing of graphics programs (Photoshop, Painter). Motives in the pictures are mostly surreal landscapes that balance between abstraction and realism.
MARIO ROSANDA ROS was born in 1966 in Pula. 1986th he finished school for graphic design in Pula. Upon completion of school, working as a free-lancer designer-illustrator. In Grožnjan 1988th attending a week-long comic-course. At that time he also worked as a colorist for the German market comics, and do lots of graphic design projects and illustrations for the covers of books and magazines.
After working in Pula Printers offset graphic works, where he meets up detail prepress and production, 1994 started working in the publishing house Pula “CASH”, to 1998. performs the graphic designers and editors. With the rest in “CASH” in graphic shapes and edited two dozen books and published author calendar (designer-illustrator). Lots of graphic design solutions (posters, covers for cups of yogurt Pula's Dairies etc ...)
After “CASH” 1998th till 2012th work in newspaper publishers Glas Istre as a graphic editor - Head of Graphic Department and published caricatures, illustrations and comics.
In his private studio-atelier in old Istrian village Vinkuran Rosanda make paintings, illustrations, photos and doing graphic design work.
He worked as an illustrator of books and magazines with Zagreb publishing houses "Vjesnik", "Izvori" and "Zoro".
Since 2002. he is a member of the Croatian Society cartoonists and regularly participates in national and international festivals cartoons.
Since 2005. he is member of the Croatian Journalists' Association.
Since 2006 he is the owner of the private company for design and publishing “ROS. design studio”, where he works today.
Awards:
1997th. Casa Editrice Nord, Milan-Italy - 1 place in the international competition for computer science fiction illustration.
1999th and 2000. European Newspaper Award (newspaperdesign)-Award of Excellence for Design news centerfold (organizers: De Journalist, Amsterdam - Medium Magazine, Frankfurt / Main - Der Oesterreichische Journalist, Salzburg)
2001th Vodnjan-Ex Tempore second place to view oil pastels technique.
2006th - ISTRACON 2006 - special award for a story on the topic of Istria - "Pršutoljci Night."
2009th - ISTRAKON 2009 - second prize for the story "Perfect Equation".
2011th - ISTRAKON 2011 - special Award for a story on the topic of Istria - "Winter foot Učka."
2013th – SFERAKON 2013 – SFERA 2012 special Award for a best SF cover illustration 2012 in Croatia
